MD DNR Considering Making East Channel a 6 mph Zone
Thursday, August 27, 2015

The Boat Act Advisory Committee 2015 Summer Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on September 3rd at the Kent Island Yacht Club, 117 Yacht Club Drive, Chester, MD. 21619. The agenda will include a review of the 2015 regulation requests and a briefing from COMAR Regulations Review Committee.

A big local topic on the agenda is that a petition has been filed to make the entire East Channel, north to Harbour Island a 6 mph zone. This area would also spread west outside of Skimmer Island.

This is not a decision making meeting. However, if the petition is put in process, than a public comment meeting will be held in October. After that meeting, a recommendation is made to the Secretary of Natural Resources, who will make a decision.
